Prospect to Watch: Daniel Hudson, SP, CHW

White Sox starter Jake Peavy was placed on the 15-day disabled list yesterday, opening the door for a replacement in the starting rotation.  The most likely candidate is top prospect and minor leaguer Daniel Hudson.  The 23 year-old is 11-4 with a 3.47 ERA thus far this season.  Look for him to be called up this week and could be worth taking a chance on because of his potential to win games for a White Sox team that has been playing solid ball over the last month.

Prospects to Watch: Jeremy Hellickson, SP, Tampa Bay

Keep a close eye on Rays fifth starter Wade Davis, whose recent run of five consecutive lost decisions are likely putting his spot in the rotation in jeopardy.  Davis, who is 5-9 with a 4.68 ERA, is looking over his shoulder at fellow prospect Jeremy Hellickson who is dominating at the AAA level.  Hellickson is 10-2 with a 2.19 for the Durham Bulls and has an impressive 97/22 strikeout to walk ratio.  Make sure to keep Davis and Hellickson on your radars as Hellickson has the potential to be this year's version of Tommy Hanson.

Jurrjens Returning Soon

According to mlb.com Braves starting pitcher Jair Jurrjens will make his return to the starting rotation as soon as Wednesday.  Jurrjens was not dominant in his rehab outings, so it is best to take a wait and see approach with him at this point.  Although his Wednesday start would be against the Nationals, Jurrjens has yet to show that he is back to his 2009 form.  Keep Jurrjens on your bench for now and wait until he is able to make one or two effective starts before returning him to your lineup.

Victor Martinez Has a Broken Thumb

Unfortunately for Victor owners, it appears as though he could be out for awhile.  Make sure to scan your league for other options right away as it looks like Victor is certainly headed to the DL.  Since Victor is an elite player at his position, he will be difficult to replace.  Hopefully you had a backup catcher before this, or a suitable stopgap is available in your league.
